Don't rely on Oracle to install Java properly on your Mac. Use Homebrew.this will install the latest jdk: brew cask install java If you want to manage multiple versions of Java on your Mac, consider using jenv. UPDATE: Now that Java 8 is no longer the most current version, if you want java 8 install it this way. Technically, you don't need a Mac. Applications in OS X just require a specific folder structure and an XML file. However, the Mac has a really nice tool called Jar Bundler. In addition to setting up the bundle directories and XML file, it creates a C executable that launches your java application via JNI. Try This, It's easy way to find java installed path in Mac OS X, GoTO. 1 ) /Library i.e Macintosh HD/Library. 2) Click on Library in that we find Java folder. 3) So final path is /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.8.0144.jdk/Contents/Home Hope so this is help for someone.

There are 2 sides to Java.
Java For Mac Pro
The web browser plug-in/extension - this is the BAD form, as it has been nothing but security holes. HOWEVER, for some reason there are a few institutions that require the Java browser plugin to access their web site. If can avoid them, all the better (if it is your Bank, consider changing banks ? ).
The 2nd Java form is application programs written in Java. These programs are NOT a problem. They are no different than any other applications written in any other programming language. They are as good and secure as the programmers that wrote them, the same as any other application you install on your Mac.
If you are being prompted to install Java because you are trying to start an Application you installed, then as long as you like the App, then this is not a problem.
